Mercy Nieri

My name is Mercy Njeri. I am 21 years old. I was born on 10th October 2000 in a village called Mareba, Chemalal sublocation, Leseru location, Turbo sub county, Uasin Gishu county in Kenya. I am Kenyan by birth and I speak English, Kiswahili fluently. I’m the first born in a family of 2 siblings. My parents are Mr. & Mrs. Japheth Ominde.

I live with my family and attend church at I.V.C Baharini. I serve in both the worship and youth department.

After my secondary education, my parents were not able to make necessary provisions for my study. I left home and resorted to manual jobs to cater for my sustainability. After working for some time, I came back home so that could go to school but due to financial constrain, I couldn’t go to school.

I believe that it is all God’s great love for me that my pastor Peter Musili informed me that I was to join college and do a course of my choice and that my school fees had been fully paid. I had no idea if I could have ever joined any institution but from the news I received, I now believe that if you do God’s work wholeheartedly, He will surely reward you.

My aspiration in life is to become a woman of who can empower others in my community. After I’m done with school, I would love to help other people in my community by also teaching them and ensuring that they are skilled. I will empower youths and even older persons in the society by providing jobs and any other necessary help where they need me.

Access to education has given me a chance to expand my mind, gain more ideas on how to be more relevant and be an asset to my community. My family will have a better lifestyle after I finish my education. My community will be more hopeful for a better future.
