Maryam Murad

BORN: 9TH JANUARY, 2012

AGE: 12 YRS

Born on January 9th, 2012, in Mombasa County, Maryam is the second-born in her family, hailing from a Christian background. Her mother, a single parent and casual laborer, struggles to make ends meet, making it immensely difficult for her to provide for Maryam and her sister’s education.

Maryam and her family shifted to Eldoret where she began her academic journey at a public school; Uasin Gishu Primary School. At this school, she displayed remarkable potential. However, as time went on, the family’s financial situation worsened, affecting the ability to pay for her tuition fees and that of her sister. In 2022, Maryam received sponsorship to join IVEC School. This opportunity opened doors for her education, allowing her to continue her studies from Grade 4 onwards.

Maryam’s academic performance is exemplary, consistently exhibiting brilliance in her studies. Not only does she excel academically, but also exhibits qualities of obedience, a strong moral compass, and a deep-rooted faith in God. Her involvement in leadership roles resonates with Christian values, setting her apart as a remarkable young girl.

Maryam’s story is a reminder of the challenges many face in pursuing an education in Kenya and specifically in Eldoret and sponsorship programs make a profound impact in the lives of these young individuals
